Face tonic

The tonic is the secret to having a radiant skin and in the daily beauty routine follows the moment of cleansing.

The tonics, based on the ingredients they contain, perform different actions: astringent, purifying, softening and refreshing.

What does a tonic contain?

The aqueous component can be distilled water or aromatic distilled water which, enriched with plant extracts, gives a pleasant fragrance.

To ensure the moisturizing effect, the presence of humectants is essential, substances that return water to the skin so as to prevent the skin from drying out.

Finally, there are the functional substances that give specific characteristics to the tonic: plant extracts, vitamins, protein derivatives, urea and sulfonates are widely used.

There are tonics, such as moisturizing-refreshing ones, with an isodermic pH, i.e. similar to skin pH, and others with an acid pH, usually used for oily skin.

In case of sensitive or dry skin or problems such as couperose, it is advisable to use an alcohol-free tonic.

Usually, for normal or oily skin, a toner with alcohol inside is used, but the new trend is to aim to produce alcohol-free tonics because they are less aggressive.
